چکیده

The structure of hadronic jets depends not only on the dynamics of QCD but also on the details of the jet finding algorithm and the physical process in which the jet is produced. To study these effects in more detail we calculate the jet cross section and the internal jet structure in ee annihilations and compare them to the results found in hadronic collisions using the same jet definition, the cone algorithm. The different structures of the overall events in the two cases are evident in the comparison. For a given cone size and jet energy, the distribution of energy inside the cone is more concentrated near the center for jets from ee collisions than for jets from hadronic collisions. A pr 1 99 8 Measurement of Jet Shapes in High - Q 2 Deep Inelastic Scattering at HERA ZEUS

The shapes of jets with transverse energies, E T , up to 45 GeV produced in neutraland charged-current deep inelastic ep scattering (DIS) at Q > 100 GeV have been measured with the ZEUS detector at HERA. Jets are identified using a cone algorithm in the η − φ plane with a cone radius of one unit. The jets become narrower as E T increases. The jet shapes in neutraland charged-current DIS are fou...

How Well Does Qcd Work for Photon-photon Collisions?

The performance of QCD in describing hadronic photon-photon collisions is investigated in the light of recent measurements from LEP on di-jet production, light hadron transverse momentum spectra, and heavy quark production. Differential di-jet cross sections have been measured by DELPHI 1 and OPAL 2. DELPHI has analysed 220 pb −1 of data taken at √ s ee =192-202 GeV using a cone algorithm with ...

Measurement of the jet width in γγ collisions and in e + e − annihilation process at TRISTAN ∗ TOPAZ

The shape of jets produced in (quasi-) real photon-photon collisions as well as in e+e− annihilation process has been studied with a cone jet finding algorithm, using the data taken with the TOPAZ detector at the TRISTAN e+e− collider at an average center-of-mass energy ( √ see) of 58 GeV. The results are presented in terms of the jet width as a function of the jet transverse energy (E T ) as w...

Heavy quark flavour dependence of multiparticle production in QCD jets

After inserting the heavy quark mass dependence into QCD partonic evolution equations, we determine the mean charged hadron multiplicity and second multiplicity correlators of jets produced in high energy collisions. We thereby extend the so-called dead cone effect to the phenomenology of multiparticle production in QCD jets and find that the average multiplicity of heavy-quark initiated jets d...
